Room Redo #2 (Cayla's room)

Cayla's room was badly in need of carpet and she still had the nursery wallpaper so even though she isn't yet 15, and didn't get a whole room redo with furniture and all, it seemed crazy not to get the wallpaper off and paint while the room was empty for carpet. She chose bright orange and I mean BRIGHT (Tangelo). You can see her room as you soon as you get to the top of the stairs and it always makes me feel happy to see the bright orange. Of course we had to get new sheets and comforters, so it really does feel like a whole new room. This one picture doesn't do justice to how nice the room turned out, but at the time this was taken her floor was covered in Polly Pockets so I only took one to show the color and bedding. Her bed is red, so the comforter pulls the orange and red together beautifully. It is a really bright cheery room.

Room Redo #1 (Brittni's room)

Thought I would post the bedroom makeovers we have accomplished this year. Alyssa got her room redone when she was 15 and it was done in ALL bright pink and bright green and is a really happy fun room, and as you have seen on her blog, she is now changing it up some and adding some sophisticated black.

Brittni's room was next when she turned 15, and hers was finished early this year. I love how it turned out. I think it is beautiful, even if I do say so myself. Her favorite color is purple and we did it in Plum and Lotus Green.

We added a stage and karaoke, as she is the singer in the family.

She had the wonderful experience of going to Paris in the summer of 2007 with her French teacher and her two best friends, so we added some touches of Paris also.

The chandelier is very elegant. We still do not have window coverings as we couldn't find what we wanted and since we are now getting new windows, I wanted to wait until those are in.

And for her birthday (16th) she got this cool new microphone stand so she no longer has to hold her microphone when she sings. This is really a decked out room. I can't seem to figure out how to get this post to stay the way I lay it out, so if anyone has some tips to share I would be grateful.

Shout out to Cayla

After many years of posters and campaign speeches, we finally have a council woman in our family. With her great speech that was composed with the help of Alyssa, she won over enough boy votes to swing things in her favor. I also want to thank her for surprising me this morning and folding all the kitchen towels/dish cloths that have been sitting in a pile waiting for me to get to them for a week now. I love suprises that eliminate things from my to do list.

P.S. She also did great at her piano recital last week.

Me a blogger?

I hadn't really planned on having a blog, because I really don't have time, and my personal computer didn't have internet access; however, I finally figured out how to get this dinosaur of a computer hooked up to our wireless network since it is too old to go wireless (wasn't hard, I've just been too busy to figure out what hardware I needed), so here I am. I read everyone's blogs while I'm working, but I can't use that computer for uploading pictures and such. I probably won't post often, as I have no life to report on, but at least I can hit the major events that are going on with the girls. I don't really have picture to go with this post, so I just picked one at random. This is a picture of a picture that was at Uncle Bob's funeral. I had never seen this picture before and I love it, so I took a picture of it and my picture of a picture turned out pretty good. Dad was definitely the goodlooking one in the bunch.
